How to Become a Certified Orthopedic Allied Professional:
ASOP is now offering Certification as an Orthopedic Allied Professional, OAP(C) to all our members. The OAP Certification is for individuals who DO NOT do fracture casting as a part of their job description, but work in an orthopedic environment. You must meet these requirements to be eligible for the OAP(C) designation.
1. Successfully pass the Orthopedic Allied Professional Certification Exam.
2. Have one or more years experience in Orthopedics working under the supervision of an Orthopedic Surgeon.
To remain certified by ASOP, you must complete 12 continuing educational hours every year. This can be in your primary title (RT, LPN, etc.) as well as orthopedics. First time Certification as a Orthopedic Allied Professional requires you to meet the requirements above. The one year continuing education cycle starts on the date of your initial certification. Members may request certification approval here.
