ASOP FELLOW RECOGNITION

ASOP Fellow status is an exclusive member status for long term Professional Members, who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement service to ASOP. These members have demonstrated high standards of professional development and shown a commitment to the goals and long-range activities of the Society.

The purpose of fellowship is to recognize commendable service to ASOP; to encourage continued service to the Society in a leadership role with ongoing dedication; and, to recognize distinguished achievement within the specialty of orthopedics and related disciplines.

Only the most distinguished from within the Society will be awarded such distinction, and as such permitted to use the prominent designation of “FASOP”.

Requirements

Fellow candidates must meet the following requirements:

• ASOP member in current good standing
• 10 years continuous ASOP membership
• Demonstrate high standards of professional development and a commitment
to the goals and long-range activities of the Society.
• Attended at least three (3) ASOP Annual Meetings/Clinical Symposiums within
the last five years (covid considerations taken into account).
• Submitted a curriculum vitae with supportive evidence that affirms
considerable engagement within one (1) of the following scholarly areas: (a)
Service; (b) Research, (c) Teaching.

Application and Selection

There is a formal application and review process. To have an application reviewed by the committee, applicants must meet the specific criteria listed. Please note that meeting the minimum criterion does not guarantee status update; only that the application will be considered by the committee. Formal application reviews take place on or after February 15th.

February 15th: Application deadline
March 1st – April 1st: Committee Reviews all candidates meeting minimal requirements

April 15th: Members will be notified of committee decision

July: Fellow membership status award at ASOP Annual Clinical Meeting
